Tanya Chin Ross posted a blog postI've worked at Safe Kids for over 10 years now, and love how my professional job helps me be a better mom! I have learned a lot about what to do (and not do!) to keep my two kids, Tommy (age 7) and Sydney (age 2, but going on 30), safe.
I spend most of my work time helping our coalition network with their grassroots advocacy efforts (car seat laws and bike helmet laws, for example) and also representing Safe Kids at the federal level to congressional offices and government agencies. Most of my personal time is spent figuring out what to feed my son for dinner or telling my daughter to stop dancing on the coffee table.
My blogging goal is to share with you information to make your life as a parent easier -- whether it be how to access recall notices or if you should buy a used crib (i recommend against that by the way!). Parenting is challenging enough, so I hope you think of Safe Kids as a your one stop safety clearinghouse!

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year – our office is peppered with bowls of fun-sized chocolates and more importantly, I love seeing my kids dressed up in costumes. When I look through our photo album, seeing pictures of Tommy dressed as Superman or Sydney dressed as Princess Leia always make me smile.

When my husband and I had our firstborn child, we did what all parents do – buy tons of stuff we simply did not need. We registered for a bottle warmer, not knowing that Tommy enjoyed a cool thirst-quenching bottle straight from the refrigerator.
