Sapna, Wow, where do I start... Since it is very early in its development, Safe Kids Navajo Nation (NN) has not been able to fully realize the potential of becoming a big part of Safe Kids National. We do get a lot of assistance from Safe Kids Arizona to be sure. We are also getting help from the county Safe Kids that are in Navajo Nation. We have just recently adopted our by-laws, and strategic plan. So very early stages. At the action level, we have passed the Booster Seat Amendment and the ATV safety legislations. We are also coordinating Child Passenger Safety activities within the NN. Our children experience unintentional injuries at a greater rate than the national.

Dear Inspiring Sister, How lovely that you will be watching my young'uns this weekend. I have secured fabulous reading material for you that is perfectly pertinent to your special interest. This month's Pediatric Annals cover issue is INJURY PREVENTION for all ages. Goes over things such as GDL's (graduated driver's license), protecting from fires and burns, sports injury prevention and choking prevention in young children. Read over the weekend and then leave for me as it is great CME...looking forward to seeing you momentarily.

Hi, Sapna, I applaud you with all the good work you are doing to spread the good word about kids safety and all while attending grad school for your master's!! I have 2 boys, both in college, and I know the hard work that goes along with keeping up your good grades. I, too, have become very passionate regarding kids safety, with a concentration in sports. I distribute the protective headband by Forcefield and it can absorb the force of an impact by up to 80%. If you know of an organization, group, league or team that might benefit from head protection, please refer them to me or my website at www.force29.com. Usually after a child gets a concussion or head injury, then the parent places an order for the headband. What I am trying to do is get the good word out that to be proactive, even though it is not yet mandated to wear, and have your child wear the headband to give them extra protection prior to an injury!! I am new to this group, as you are, but appreciate all the good information it has. Welcome, Luann
