About Me:
If someone would have told me I would end up becoming a safety professional, I wouldn’t have believed them. With a BS degree in Kinesiology/Health Education and Promotion, concentrating in Community Health; I was all about improving the health of others. I focused on the holistic approach of health: physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social; with a spotlight on childhood obesity. During my last semester at Southeastern Louisiana University, I interned at the Safety Council of the Louisiana Capital Area; and somehow morphed into a super safety chick!

I began researching safety and all the particulars, but found myself pursuing the area that made my heart sing the most beautiful song. I can still hear the sweet little voices and know that child safety is my home. You know what they say; “Home is where the heart is.” My inspiration comes from the children I see and hear each day. There is nothing more innocent than a child and their little lives are beautiful and precious. I allow my passion for the well-being of children to shine through my dedication and warmth for educating the public about preventing injuries. I believe safety education for children and caregivers is essential and will continue to display that devotion through each parent, caregiver and child I come in contact with.

Earning the opportunity to be the Executive Director of Lexlee’s Kids is an honor and dream come true. From the grandparent who says, “my how things have changed”; to the parent who thanks you with tears in their eyes; to the teen who is road ready; to the little one who can buckle up and boogie; to the wee one who smiles in their properly installed car seat…I love, love, love it all!

Don't be Blind to Safety!

Becoming a parent is exciting enough, but decorating and preparing for the arrival of your new little bundle of joy is extra fun! Although there is something fabulous to be said about all the patterns and designs out there, you don’t want to cover your eyes to safety. Not all products are as safe as they look, so open your eyes to all the child product recalls that are out there!

Don't Play with Toy Safety!

Trucks and dolls and rattles…oh my! The happy, happy holidays are here and your tree will be crowded with toys before you know it. Naturally, you want your children to have fun and be safe when playing with their terrific toys. Did you know that in 2009, there were an estimated 181,900 toy-related injuries, and that children under 5 accounted for nearly half of those injuries? Help keep the fun going this holiday season and stay on top of your little one’s toys.…

Wow, Crystal, Congrats to you on the wonderful work that you do and on becoming the executive director of Lexlee's Kids, which I just subscribed to!! You sound very passionate about kids safety and I just love it!! I, too, have become very involved with kids safety, young and old, especially regarding sports. I have 2 boys that were very involved in sports and saw all too many head injuries and concussions and I now distribute a protective headband by Forcefield that can absorb the force of an impact by up to 80%!! It is an awesome product, especially regarding sports where no head protection at all is worn, such as soccer, basketball, cheerleading, iceskating, volleyball, etc... Welcome to the group and perhaps we can help each other out by linking on to our websites!! I am always looking to spread the good word about safety and our youth!! Good Luck, Luann My website is www.force29.com
