Babies who have unsafe sleep environments, including adult beds, are at a 40 times greater risk of dying from risks like suffocation and strangulation.

September is Baby Safety Month and Safe Kids USA would like to remind families that a safe place to sleep is essential for all babies. Visit www.usa.safekids.org for more important tips to keep your baby safer.

Did you know that IAFCS, International Association For Child Safety, recommends that families begin to baby proof their homes when their baby is five months old? I'm available to answer questions about in home child safety and problem solve with you. Rule: Gates at the top of the stairs should always be hardware mounted. Need to know why or how to, let me know.

NOTE: IAFCS is the umbrella organization for professional baby-proofers
